Lauren McCluskey was an accomplished track and field athlete at the University of Utah with a bright future. Unfortunately, she was tragically murdered by a man she'd dated only briefly. An investigation after Lauren's murder unveiled failures by the University's police department that weren't recognized until it was too late. Her death is a sobering reminder of why it is so important for the institutions we trust to keep us safe need to be held accountable when they fail to act.

This is the story of the Lady of the Lake, also known as the Great SaltAir Resort and the mystery of an unidenified woman who became affectionately known as "SaltAir Sally" before DNA uncovered her real identity. Nikole Bakoles, a young mother from Washington State. The first half of the video discusses the history of the Great Salt Lake and Salt Air Resort and the second half discusses the tragic story of a murder that remains unsolved.

Zhifan Dong was an international student at the University of Utah. In February of 2022, she was tragically murdered by her ex-boyfriend in a downtown Salt Lake City hotel room. After she was found, the University of Utah found evidence its housing staff had not acted according to its protocols. This is the second time in less than 5 years that similar mistakes were made contributing to the death of another student, Lauren McCluskey.

When I heard the tragic news about the end of the search for JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, the gruesome murders of Brenda Wright-Lafferty and Erica Lafferty at the hands of Ron and Dan Lafferty came immediately to my mind.
Like JJ, Tylee, Charles and Tammy, Brenda and Erica were murdered by Doomsday extremists.
Part one will discuss the background leading up to the murders of Brenda and Erica and the context behind them. I'll go into detail explaining the now defunct Mormon doctrine of plural marriage, why Dan Lafferty became so obsessed with polygamy after reading the Peacemaker and how Ron was able to manipulate Dan into believing he had received a "divine" revelation so they could carry out the murders.
In part two, I'll talk more about what blood atonement is and why it became the choice method of "removal".

The horrific murders of Brenda and Erica Lafferty in 1984 rocked the tiny town of America Fork, Utah. Brenda and Erica were the victims of Ron and Dan Lafferty who justified their murders by claiming they were a revelation from God, inspired by an abandoned Mormon doctrine known as Blood Atonement. Ron and Dan were raised in the Mormon church and excommunicated for their extreme beliefs and were seeking revenge against Brenda for standing up to them. The Lafferty case was the first thing that came to my mind when I learned about the murders of Charles and JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan because of the twisted religious beliefs used as justification in both cases; including the role of "revelation" and "blood atonement."
In part two, we'll discuss the murders of Brenda and Erica at the hands of Ron and Dan Lafferty and go into the long abandoned "Blood Atonement" doctrine from the early days of the Church that Ron used as his justification for the murders (which we all know is bullshit).
